BAAR, SWITZERLAND and LONDON, 12 November 2014 – meetinvest, a new and free financial social media platform, today announces its official UK launch. meetinvest, founded in August 2014 by two Swiss-based entrepreneurs, removes the barriers to investing, including complicated financial jargon and a general lack of know-how that retail investors often face, through simplification.

Uniquely, meetinvest simplifies the investment strategies of global investment experts, including Buffett, Graham, O’Neil and Templeton, and identifies the stocks that match their strategy’s criteria – by distilling the strategies into simplified language and through the identification of stocks, meetinvest’s members are able to invest like professionals, for free. As part of this process, the platform tracks 68,000 stocks daily, screening 128 countries and 238 exchanges worldwide. meetinvest’s team of financial analysts and programmers have developed algorithms for these strategies that not only illustrate in back-testing to January 2000 the hypothetical past performances of them, but also show the member going forward which stocks meet the strategy’s criteria on a daily basis.

The platform also acts like a ‘financial Facebook’, allowing like-minded people from around the world to connect and exchange ideas about investing, including on 800 bespoke investment topics from stocks to real estate, from art to coins, from watches to wine, from stamps to classic cars.

“I first thought of the idea for meetinvest when I looked into investing my own money in stocks and shares, but was faced by a wall of financial jargon and complexity. meetinvest helps educate retail investors about the investment process and gives them the tools to invest like a professional,” commented Maria Jacquemai CEO and Co-Founder. “We are passionate about our platform because there is global demand for simplified investment information amongst retail investors, and for there to be a place where like-minded individuals can connect and exchange investment ideas.”

Research commissioned by meetinvest and undertaken by YouGov* shows that 45% of adults in the UK find the stock market and information available to them as “confusing”. The same survey also revealed that 39% of adults in the UK would be more likely to invest in the stock market if they had access to free and easy to understand information.

meetinvest’s international team consists of natives from six European countries, as well as Brazil, Canada, Singapore, Russia, Venezuela, and the United States.

The two co-founders are Michel Jacquemai who has more than 20 years’ experience in the financial industry in asset management, hedge funds and banking, and Maria Jacquemai who has 10 years’ experience in television as a journalist and senior producer in a managerial role in Europe and the U.S., and six years’ experience as a communications specialist.
